Urged resigns from Java Rockin 'Land

Band from Wales, Stereophonics, were urged to cancel their appearance at the Java Rockin 'Land in Jakarta. The reason is, it will rock festival sponsored by tobacco companies.

Donors anti-smoking and children in Wales, Ash Wales, on Tuesday (28 / 9), criticized the Stereophonics as agreed to perform at the Java Rockin 'Land next month. The event that was held three days in Jakarta, sponsored Gudang Garam, one of the largest tobacco companies in Indonesia.

Ash Wales considers Indonesia has few regulations that restrict the circulation of smoke. They also assess the cigarette industry in Indonesia using the concert to distribute free cigarettes.

Chief Executive of Ash Wales, Tanya Buchanan, said: "We urge the Stereophonics to demand that cigarette sponsorship withdrawn and all brands associated with cigarettes at the festival to be withdrawn."

"Action will send a strong message that the band concerned about the health problems of children in Indonesia and they do not allow the name of the band, talent, and their popularity is used for the purpose of marketing a deadly addictive product to children in Indonesia or elsewhere," he added .

Stereophonics own party now could not be reached for comment about the pressure.

Previously, the lead singer of rock band Wolfmother, Andrew Stockdale, threatening not present in Java Rockin 'Land because the event was sponsored by tobacco companies. However, the Australian-based band has said it will eventually appear in the Java Rockin 'Land to their fans in Indonesia.

Stereophonics is a band that formed in 1992 Wales. The alternative rock band digawangi Kelly Jones (vocals and guitar), Richard Jones (bass), Javier Weyler (drums), Adam Zindani (guitar), and Tony Kirkham (keyboards).
